Impact15 is a year-long health pledge program from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics to promote small lifestyle changes that can lead to positive health impacts over time.
We are joining the Impact 15 pledge program because we see patients everyday come into our clinic that are suffering from illnesses or chronic diseases that could have been prevented with healthier lifestyle changes.
Many people don’t realize by incorporating in small changes like removing sugary drinks or walking an hour or two a day can really have a big impact on overall health.
Impact 15 is designed so the participant can have a higher success rate. We are asking that individuals design their pledge around their daily routines, we want them to find something they would like to change or maybe a habit they would like to add into their routine and make a pledge on that in an increment of 15.
Some examples are:
- I pledge to drink 15 more glasses of water this month
- I pledge to smoke 15 less cigarettes this month
- I pledge to walk at least 15 minutes daily for a month
The purpose of this pledge to create a realistic change you can do for a realistic outcome. You can’t change habits overnight and we want to show people that living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard. If someone would cut out 15 sodas per month, that would save around 1800 calories and if after doing it for 30 days it becomes a habit, they would save over 15,000 calories a year!
